Your tour takes you through the suburbs of Manta to Montecristi, a colonial town founded in 1628 and the real home of the Panama hat. 

While here, you’ll enjoy a visit to a traditional tagua factory, where you’ll see how the ivory-like nut of the palm tree is crafted into sculptures and jewellery. Continuing to Ciudad Alfaro, where the newest Constitution of Ecuador was written, you’ll delve into the county’s history and democratic roots. Finally, you’ll be treated to a presentation on how the iconic Panama hat is woven.
