Whisky Island 

On this heritage walk through Islay’s Port Ellen towards Laphroaig Distillery, you’ll learn about the island’s famous whisky, history and modern-day island life.  

Admire the coastal views at the picturesque inlet of Sròn Dubh, visit the MacDougall monument which sits atop a grassy mound overlooking the sea, and see the iconic white storehouses of the Laphroaig Distillery, renowned for its peated, smoky malts.

  • Remarks/requirements: Please wear warm waterproof clothing and comfortable walking shoes.  

  • Walking or Activity information: Involves moderate physical activity on relatively level surfaces and gentle terrain. Includes approx. 3.7 mi of walking.
