Discover the Goierri region, known as the "Basque Highlands" of the Basque Country. A territory made up of small villages surrounded by nature. The pastures are easy to see and so are the sheep and cows, which for centuries have been the economic engine of this rural region, which also has a powerful local industry.

You will enjoy the tranquillity of this rural area, you will visit medieval villages (Ordizia and Segura) and you will have the opportunity to taste the famous Idiazábal DO cheese in one of the small cheese dairies, which will open their doors to show us how it is made. Eneko Aramburu, the shepherd, will show us the latxa sheep.

The visit will end with a tasting of Idiazabal cheese.

*While we're excited to share the unique flavours of this region with you, it’s important to note that allergy awareness and hygiene standards can vary widely across the world. The local community providing food for this tour may not be as familiar with allergy concerns or preparation standards as suppliers in your home country or the expert chefs onboard our ships. As a precaution, we advise anyone with a severe food allergy to contact a member of the onboard Expedition Team before booking this excursion.
