Planned Itinerary
Day 1: Overnight in Reykjavík
On arrival in Iceland's capital, you'll check in to your hotel for the night. If you have time, take the rest of the day to explore the many things to see and do in this charming city.
Day 2: Reykjavik sightseeing and Blue Lagoon
Today, you’ll be taken by coach on a sightseeing drive through Reykjavík towards the Blue Lagoon. Enjoy a peaceful and relaxing time at this unique natural pool of mineral rich geothermal water located in the middle of a lava field in the beautiful Icelandic wilderness. The afternoon and evening is at leisure.
Day 3: Langjökull Glacier and Ice Cave
Today begins with a scenic drive towards Borgarfjordur. Our first stop is Hraunfossar and Barnafossar – two picturesque waterfalls that provide perfect photo opportunities.
We’ll then continue to Langjokull Glacier, Iceland´s second-largest glacier. Here you’ll meet your local guides, collect your warm overalls and boots, and head on to the glacier on a 4x4. Up on the glacier, you’ll find a deep man-made cave with a series of tunnels carved into the glacial ice, complete with an ice bar and ice chapel. Unlike natural ice caves, which can be unpredictable, the ice cave you’ll explore is part of a carefully designed, man-made structure. Extensive research and planning have gone into creating this unique series of tunnels, ensuring the highest safety standards for visitors.
On a guided tour here, you’ll weave through the labyrinth of icy underground tunnels, marvelling at the array of colours and learning about glaciology along the way.
Your tour ends with a lunch buffet before heading back to Reykjavik.
Day 4: Golden Circle Tour
After breakfast, you'll begin your full-day Golden Circle tour. We'll visit UNESCO-listed Thingvellir (Þingvellir) National Park, a fascinating site of geological and historical significance. Enjoy a walk in the glorious volcanic landscape, and stand where two tectonic plates meet. The tour continues over the Lyngdalsheidi heath into the fertile farmlands of the south, where you´ll have a tasty lunch.
After, you'll travel to Gullfoss, one of Iceland’s most beautiful waterfalls, and see the spouting geysers of the Geysir Geothermal Area, where the most active hot spring, Strokkur, spouts every few minutes.
You’ll return to Reykjavík in time for the start of your expedition cruise or when travelling to Nuuk enjoy another night in Reykjavik.
Please note we might visit these sights in a different order.
