Take a leisurely walk through Sitka National Historical Park
Hear engaging and informative stories
Admire both native totem pole and Russian icon artwork
Your day begins with a scenic motor coach ride along Sitka’s picturesque roadways en route to Sitka National Historical Park, where the 1804 ‘Battle of Alaska’ was fought. The park hosts totem-lined trails, cultural exhibits and carving rooms where native Alaskan artisans demonstrate their totemic art form. Here, you’ll have the option to walk along the forest trail, view the exhibits, or interact with the artists.
Your next stop will be at Centennial Hall, where you’ll be treated to a special performance by the Archangel Dancers and watch Alaska’s Russian heritage come alive through ethnic folk dance and song. Following the performance, your tour will end downtown where you can take a short walk to St. Michael's Cathedral, and admire original Russian icon artwork dating back to the early 16th century.
