Excursion

Visit Skálanes nature reserve and learn about the flora that abounds here.
Take a hike up to the clifftop viewpoint and look out for wildlife like seals and whales.
Visit Þórarinsstaðir archaeological site and see the remains of the medieval church and graveyard.
We begin with a short transfer by 4x4 to reach Þórarinsstaðir archaeological site, where the remains of a medieval church and graveyard lie.
We then continue to the 1,250-hectare Skálanes nature reserve. A former farmstead, the reserve is brimming with life, and the 2,224-foot coastal cliffs are home to thousands of birds in season, including eiders and Arctic Terns. Walk up to the viewpoint to admire the awe-inspiring vistas, and keep an eye out for whales and seals who can sometimes be spotted in the waves below.
