A mixture of art and forest.
Nature.
Art.
Galicia, hit by the Atlantic Ocean, the land of the thousand rivers full of stone structures, houses, mansions, granaries. Today we will take to enjoy the atmosphere of this part of Spain.
We will start with the Monastery of Armenteira, that seems to be first built in the XII century with renovations along the centuries. The church is oriented to the east looking for the first sign of light every morning. Built in stone, you can see the different styles like Romanesque, Renaissance and Baroque. At the monastery the nuns among other jobs like ecologic agriculture or attending the hostelry, the made their own soap. They prepared a selection of those soaps so you can take one of them to remember this day.
Nest, near the monastery will follow the River Armenteira down the hill, this trail along the bank of the river Armenteira, surrounded by the forest where you will find stone mills, some restored, several jumps of the river, and channels.
Once we finish the route the bus will take us back to Vigo.
