Frontier town

In the late 19 century, Tromsø was the ‘Gateway to the Arctic’ and the base for polar expeditions and trappers. Discover the history of the early explorers and famous trappers, like Henry Rudi and Wanny Woldstad. Get insight into Fridtjof Nansen’s Fram expedition and Roald Amundsen’s attempt to conquer the geographic North Pole.

  • Remarks/requirements: This excursion includes museum admission, at your leisure. This is not a guided experience.

  • Walking information: Transportation is not included. The Polar Museum is located within walking distance of the port.
