Meet your guide at the cruise terminal for a walking tour through the maritime fjord city of Kiel. Enjoy a beautiful view among the fjord while walking along the coastline. As we pass the pedestrian zone we will see the town hall. It is more than 100 years old and has shaped the city`s image. Its tower can be seen from afar. The opera house is a listed monument which was built in 1902, but most of the building was destoyed during World War II and rebuild from 1950-1953. as we leave the opera house behind us we will head to the small Kiel, an inland water, which is surrounded by the town hall, the opera and some parks. From this green lung we will go straight to the "old town" of Kiel and will admire the Nikolai church, the oldest building in Kiel. Short after city founding in 1242, construction of the church started. After several reconstructions, fires and destruction during War the church was rebuild in 1950. We will continue with Kiels only shopping promenade with old town character, the Danish street. Here we will find some old buildings from the time before the World War II. Your guide will show you the city museum as well as the remnants of the castle. We end our tour at the ship after we saw the city museum and the maritime museum.
