  • Bay of Arcachon

  • Dune du Pyla

  • Oyster farm visit

  • Oyster tasting

West of Bordeaux lies Arcachon Bay, an area famous for its fine weather. Step aboard your air-conditioned bus and experience the beauty of the region’s pine tree forests, calm ocean waters, and wild sand dunes. We will take you on a travel to climb up Europe’s tallest sand dune: the Dune du Pyla. After venturing through the Landes de Gascogne forest, you will arrive in Arcachon Bay, known for its pristine waters constantly renewed by the tide and thousands of migratory birds that visit each year. At Dune du Pyla, set off on your trek up the highest sand dune in Europe. Wooden stairs allow for easier climbing of the first half of the dune’s 360 feet. At the top, your reward is sweeping views of Arcachon Bay, the Landes Pine Forest and the Atlantic Ocean.

Oyster farm visit and tasting: Continue to the quaint oyster-farming port of La Teste-de-Buch, where you will stop for a gourmet break at an oyster farm. A farmer will explain all about the oyster culture and invite you to taste six oysters from his fresh production, with bread and butter and a glass of Bordeaux dry white wine.
