The tour will begin with a panoramic bus tour of La Coruna. Once we leave the port, we will head to the promenade that surrounds the city’s coastline. On the way, we will see the ‘galleries’, situated in front of the harbor. The hundreds of windows on houses led to La Coruna being called ‘The Crystal City’. A long time ago, the sea was close to the city and these windows reflected the sunlight on top of the surface of the sea.

The promenade is Europe’s longest and surrounds most of Coruna’s coastline. On it, we will pass the Castle of San Anton, built on an island. It was originally a fortress and is nowadays the archeological museum, connected to the city by a narrow road.

Then we will head to the Tower of Hercules. This beacon, built by the Romans, is the only lighthouse in the world of its kind that is still working for its original purposes. As the most important monument of La Coruna, it appears on the city’s coat of arms, along with the bones of Gerion, a giant that was killed by Hercules and buried under the beacon.

Then we will drive to Betanzos, one of the capitals of the Old Galician Kingdom that was declared a historical and artistic monument in 1970. We will stroll its narrow streets and see its typical old houses; ending atop the hill at the gothic Church of San Francisco, from the 14th century. Here, we will find the tomb of Fernan Perez de Andrade, a medieval knight whose coffin is in the church and bears the figures of a boar and a bear, which were his coat of arms.
