Discover the Danish town of Esbjerg at your own pace on this self-guided tour.
  • Explore Esbjerg at your own pace, and browse the city’s shops and cafes.

  • See the striking “Man Meets the Sea” sculpture overlooking the ocean toward Fanø Island.

  • Admire the city’s historic buildings, such as the water tower built in 1897.

A Relaxed Danish Town

Located on UNESCO-listed Wadden Sea, Esbjerg has a rich maritime history. A shuttle bus will take you from the port into the center, which is perfect for exploring on foot.

En route, you can choose to stop at the city’s striking landmark, the 30-ft “Man Meets the Sea” sculpture, which gazes out over the horizon. The sculptures were installed in 1995 to celebrate the city’s 100th anniversary. You’ll find the center of Esberg to be a blend of historic charm and modern Scandinavian chic. Look out for the iconic water tower, and perhaps head to one of the city’s museums or art galleries.
