Welcome to the urban fishing village of Svolvær!

Lofoten has a rich history, where the fisheries play a special and essential role.

Discover the friendly fishing village of Svolvær at your own pace. Guides are stationed at three different sites along the walking route. They will introduce you to the village and present short lectures on topics like Lofoten’s fisheries, stockfish production, and life there today. Lectures begin every 30 minutes and are 10 minutes long each. There will also be opportunities to ask questions after each lecture.

Practical information

  • Language: English.

  • Remarks/requirements: This is a self-guided walk with guides stationed at three different points. Visit each site to hear a short lecture about Lofoten. Lectures begin every 30 minutes and are 10 minutes long each. Dress according to local weather conditions with good footwear.

  • Walking information: Approximately 0.6 miles to visit all three stations.
