Visit the Giant’s Causeway and visitor center.
Explore the Dunluce Castle ruins on a guided tour.
View the rugged beauty of the northern Irish coast.
Your first stop today is at the Giants’ Causeway. Visitors have marveled at its majesty and mystery for centuries. For millions of years, the unique rock formations have stood as a natural rampart against the unbridled ferocity of the Atlantic storms. The rugged symmetry of the columns never fails to intrigue and inspire. To stroll the Giants Causeway is to travel back in time. Let your imagination leap along stepping-stones leading to a bygone volcanic age and into the myths and legends of the past. Enjoy a visit to the interpretative center before walking to the stones.
Next, stop at Dunluce Castle for an inside visit and a guided tour. Most of the fortifications date from the 16th and 17th centuries. Dunluce Castle (Irish: Dún Lios) literally translates as the ‘Hill Fort of the Fairy Fort. It is among the most extensive medieval castle ruins in Northern Ireland. It is located on the edge of a basalt outcrop and is accessible via a bridge connecting it to the mainland. The castle is dramatically surrounded by terrifyingly steep drops on either side, which drew early Christians and Vikings to this place, where an early Irish fort once stood.
Afterwards, rejoin your bus and guide for the return drive to the port.
