Day 1: Enjoy a day on the river
After disembarkation in Puntarenas, we’ll take you to Costa Rica’s Pacific coast near Carara National Park, where you’ll begin your river boat safari along the Tárcoles River.
The river is home to the richest mangrove forest on the mid-Pacific coast. Four different types of trees create a lush habitat for over 250 species of birds here, including kingfishers, anhingas, roseate spoonbills and great herons. It’s also the most important conservation area in the country for the vibrant scarlet macaw. Look out for the many wild crocodiles that line the riverbanks. This area has one of the largest colonies in the world.
Afterwards, enjoy a traditional Costa Rican lunch before being transferred to your hotel in San José. Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure.
Day 2: Back to San José
After a delicious breakfast at your hotel, your Post-Program comes to an end.
