Galicia, flanked by the Atlantic Ocean—the land of the thousand rivers. It is full of stone structures, houses, mansions, and granaries. Today we will take time to enjoy the atmosphere of this part of Spain.

We will start with the Monastery of Armenteira, which appears to have been first built in the 12th century, with renovations along the way. The church is oriented to the east, eager to find the first signs of light each morning. Built in stone, you can see the different styles, including Romanesque, Renaissance, and Baroque. At the monastery, the nuns have jobs, which include ecologic agriculture, tending to the hostelry, or making their own soap. They have prepared a selection of those soaps for you to take home as a souvenir.

Near the monastery, we will follow the Armenteira River down the hill. The trail runs along the bank of the river, surrounded by the forest containing stone mills (some restored), several small falls, and channels.

Once we finish the route, the bus will take us back to Vigo.
