Trondheim rolled out the red carpet for cyclists and features the most advanced bike lane network in Norway. Locals are actively advised to use green ways to get around. We bike along the waterfront and to the city center, passing by wharves, traditional wooden buildings, and modern architecture. Along the way, learn about Trondheim’s history as a harbor and trading center. Learn more about the Viking kings Olav I and Olav II, who were both significant to this city. We visit Nidaros Cathedral, Norway’s national shrine, built over the grave of St. Olav. We will have photo ops en route, which include the Old Town Bridge and the Trampe bicycle elevator on Bakklandet, an old industrial neighborhood with colorful wooden buildings. The tour includes a stop for coffee that showcases why Trondheim-Trøndelag was named European Region of Gastronomy 2022.
