A leisurely bike ride through what many consider the most scenic route in Ireland, featuring amazing countryside views.
  • Waterford and its unique surroundings

  • Bike the most scenic route in Ireland.

  • Lush countryside

Experience the splendid beauty of Waterford and its surroundings on a half-day bike excursion.

Leave the pier toward the Waterford Institute of Technology, where your Greenway exploration awaits. Before setting off on your leisurely bike ride, you will have a safety briefing and receive your bikes. Your guide will then lead you along the former Waterford to Dungarvan Railway line.

The Waterford, Dungarvan & Lismore Railway Company was established up in 1872. This line was Ireland’s most expensive to build at the time, as it followed the most complicated route of any southern railway. The line opened in August 1878 and was considered the most scenic route in Ireland, featuring amazing views of the lush countryside. Your leisurely bike ride along the line will provide a snippet of this wonderful scenery. You will have plenty of time to stop for photos along the route as you take in the stunning views.

Stop for a rest and light refreshments in Kilmeaden before continuing along the route to the village of Kilmacthomas. Once you reach the outskirts of this quaint little village, you will be invited to enjoy some tea (or coffee) and scones in The Coach House, which was once an old famine house building dating back to the 1840s. The building contains many stories, told through the photographs displayed on its walls. Relax after your bike ride before taking the bus back to the ship.
