Located 28 miles off the coast of Cornwall, the Isles of Scilly are a beguiling cluster of low-lying islands, only five of which are inhabited by just 2,200 residents. The entire archipelago is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is dotted with Sites of Special Scientific Interest and Marine Conservation Zones with some habitats listed as Special Areas of Conservation and Special Protection Areas. The clear waters support a myriad of marine life, and migrant birds are drawn by the temperate climate, winds, and ocean current. On land lies an eclectic array of award-winning producers, and food miles here are almost non-existent, as much of the produce is consumed on the islands.

Discover Scilly with a cruise around the Eastern Isles, a group of 12 uninhabited islands forming part of the Scilly Heritage Coast. The rugged edges of these isles are a haven for wildlife. Keen eyes may spot gannets, cormorants, shearwaters, and the friendly Atlantic grey seal, among the rarest seals in the world. Starting in mid-April, puffins return to breed and the Isles of Scilly become one of the few sites in the UK where puffin-spotting is possible. Learn more about this popular seabird and discover why this fantastic natural habit is so important.
